Trading 212 CGT calculator Ireland: export, calculate and file

Use your Trading 212 Invest history CSV to calculate Irish share CGT. Include the purchases behind your sales, then review the euro workings. FiscalFox keeps ETF events, dividend records and everyday cash activity separate from ordinary-share gains.

How to export and upload your trades

    1. Open Trading 212 and select your Invest account, then Menu → History → Export.
    2. Select the required dates and include orders, dividends and transactions. Download the CSV.
    3. Repeat for earlier years needed to cover your purchases and any later records needed for the selected year.
    4. Upload the original CSV files using the Trading 212 option in FiscalFox Ireland.
    5. Select your tax year, review the share and fund results, and download your supporting pack.

    Choose the Invest history export

Use the transaction-level CSV from History. The portfolio value, a Pie holdings snapshot or a profit summary cannot show all the purchase lots used to work out a sale. The instructions here are for the Invest share and fund history supported by FiscalFox Ireland.

Keep the downloaded file in its original format. It contains trade dates, actions, instrument identifiers, fractional quantities, cash totals and currencies. FiscalFox’s dedicated Trading 212 reader processes this format in the browser; you do not need an API key or a connection to your trading account.

Bring earlier purchases and every relevant account

Start with the year you first acquired investments that are still relevant to the sales you are calculating. A 2025 sale may use a purchase from years earlier. Export consecutive periods when one file cannot cover the history, and upload the files together.

If shares arrived from a different broker, include that original acquisition evidence too. A transfer value or the opening market value is not an invented purchase cost. Use the multi-broker guide to collect the source records before reviewing the affected disposal.

Review fractional shares, currencies and costs

Small fractional trades remain part of your history. A genuine cash settlement rounded to €0.00 does not mean that no units were bought. FiscalFox preserves an evidenced rounded settlement and the exact quantity; it does not create a larger cost from the displayed share price.

Check the matched acquisition cost and sale proceeds in euro, including the dealing costs recorded in the export. For foreign-currency trades, the purchase and sale need their own dated valuations. A Trading 212 return percentage or account-currency profit is a reconciliation aid, not the completed Irish computation.

Keep ETFs, income and card activity in the right schedules

The same Invest history can contain company shares, ETFs, dividends, interest, deposits and card transactions. FiscalFox identifies reviewed instruments where evidence is available and keeps share disposals separate from funds. Fund identity alone does not settle the investor’s fund regime or any previous deemed-disposal tax.

Card debits, credits and spending cashback without an investment identifier are retained as cash activity rather than share sales. Dividend and interest rows remain income evidence; their presence does not mean that your final income tax has been calculated. Use the fund and filing guides for the separate treatment.

Check the selected year and keep the report pack

Choose the Irish calendar year after upload. Review any missing acquisition evidence that affects that year, reconcile the disposal schedule against the CSV, and download the computation, matching workings and source backup. The Irish calculation and supporting pack are currently free.

The pack supports your own return or accountant’s review. You still file with Revenue and pay the liability yourself. An ordinary-share result does not include every possible employee-share, CFD, crypto or investment-income obligation. For employee shares, keep the acquisition and payroll evidence alongside the broker file.

    Questions and answers

Does Trading 212 calculate my Irish CGT for me?

A broker profit figure does not establish the Irish matched cost, dated euro values and annual exemption. Use the transaction history to prepare and check the Irish calculation.

Can I upload several years of Trading 212 CSVs?

Yes. Include earlier purchases and the later sales they support. Choose the tax year in the calculator after combining the relevant files.

Are Trading 212 ETFs taxed like ordinary shares?

Not automatically. Establish the fund’s legal tax treatment and use the separate fund review; do not apply ordinary-share CGT to every ETF.

Do I need to edit zero-value fractional purchases?

Keep the original row. FiscalFox retains a rounded zero settlement where the quantity, price and currency evidence support it, and preserves the actual imported cost.
