Use the account Activity CSV for purchases and sales, then the annual tax statement and per-fund detail for income and cost base adjustments. These are different records with different roles.

Download and add your Betashares Direct history

    1. In Betashares Direct on the web, open your profile (top right) › Manage account, then Activity.
    2. Enter a start date before your first investment and today's date, then choose Export to download the CSV.
    3. For each fund's tax figures, ask Betashares in the app's chat for the per-ETF tax breakdown CSV for each year, and add it here too. FiscalFox fills in each fund's statement figures from it.
    4. Open the Australian calculator with your broker selected and add the original CSV or Excel files. Review the income year you need and download the workings.

    Choose the supported trade export

FiscalFox reads the Activity export and the supported per-ETF tax breakdown CSV. Where the consolidated statement does not allocate tax components by fund, obtain the breakdown from in-app support rather than spreading the total arbitrarily.

    Complete the Betashares Direct records

The annual tax statement excludes gains and losses on your own investment disposals; the separate CGT report covers those. FiscalFox rebuilds those sales from transactions, so do not add the broker’s CGT total again. Rebalancing sales are disposals and reinvestments are new parcels.

    Calculate the Australian income year

Include the acquisitions behind the year’s sales, even when you bought years earlier. FiscalFox keeps parcels and their dates, converts covered foreign trades to AUD and applies capital losses before any current-rule discount.

Review the affected year’s results and download the item 18 workings. The 50% discount applies to qualifying resident-individual gains under the rules through 30 June 2027; holdings that cross the reform date also need their transition valuation.

    Questions and answers

Which Betashares Direct file does FiscalFox need?

Use the account Activity CSV for purchases and sales, then the annual tax statement and per-fund detail for income and cost base adjustments. These are different records with different roles.

Is the Betashares Direct profit figure my Australian taxable gain?

Use it as a cross-check. Australian CGT depends on the parcels, original costs, AUD conversions, capital losses and applicable discount; the calculator rebuilds those figures from the records.

Do I need earlier purchases as well as this year’s sales?

Yes, whenever a sale uses shares bought before the income year. Include the original acquisitions and any relevant transfers, reinvestments or fund cost base adjustments.
