FiscalFox imports the Interactive Investor (ii) transaction history CSV from a Trading Account. It turns each purchase and sale into a UK CGT transaction at the sterling amount that settled, separates dealing charges and stamp duty, and applies HMRC's same-day, 30-day and Section 104 matching rules. The file is read in the built-in importer, without AI.

How to export your Interactive Investor transaction history

Use the transaction history rather than a valuation, contract note or tax certificate. A sale can depend on purchases made years earlier, so export the full history of every holding you sold.

    1. Open Transaction History: Sign in to Interactive Investor (ii) in a web browser and open Portfolio, then Transaction History.
    2. Choose the taxable account: Select your Trading Account. Gains inside an ii Stocks and Shares ISA or SIPP are outside UK capital gains tax.
    3. Choose the complete period: Set the date range from your first purchase of anything you still held or sold, through to the end of the tax year.
    4. Choose sterling (GBP): ii exports one cash currency per file. Choose GBP, which records each deal at the sterling amount that settled.
    5. Export the CSV: Export the transaction history as a CSV and upload it to FiscalFox unchanged.

    Export the GBP history

ii exports one cash currency per file. FiscalFox reads the sterling (GBP) history, where US and other overseas shares appear at the sterling amount that settled. A US dollar or euro export is refused rather than read as pounds.

Statements, contract notes and Consolidated Tax Certificates are under the person icon, then Document history, according to ii's own guidance. Keep them as supporting records, but upload the transaction history to FiscalFox.

    Interactive Investor file format

The transaction history CSV normally includes:

    • Date and Settlement Date for each deal
    • Symbol and Sedol for the security. Funds without a ticker show Symbol as n/a and are identified by SEDOL
    • Quantity, Price and Description for the deal
    • Debit for a purchase and Credit for a sale, in GBP, plus Running Balance

FiscalFox also reads the ii trade history layout with Security / ISIN, Share Price, Total Trade Value and Trade Date/Time columns. Upload the original file unchanged, as CSV or Excel.

How Interactive Investor rows are processed

    ii rowFiscalFox treatment
Deal with a DebitPurchase. Cost is the sterling amount debited, with dealing charges and stamp duty shown as fees
Deal with a CreditSale. Proceeds are the sterling amount credited, net of dealing charges
Dividend or distributionUK dividends are imported as income. Overseas dividends are held for review, because the ledger shows cash after any foreign withholding tax
Shares moved with no cashHeld for review as a transfer or corporate action, so you can confirm the cost carried over
Deposits, subscriptions, payments and interestCash movements, not trades. They are not used in the gains calculation

    Common Interactive Investor upload issues

The export starts part-way through the holding

If you sell more units than the file shows you buying, FiscalFox holds the sale for review. Export an earlier date range, or tell FiscalFox what you paid for the shares bought before the file starts.

Two funds have the same short name

ii abbreviates security names in the ledger, so two different Vanguard ETFs can both appear as "VAND FUND". FiscalFox keeps them apart using the Symbol or SEDOL on each row.

The file was exported from an ISA or SIPP

Gains in an ii ISA or SIPP are not taxable. Export the Trading Account instead, and upload each taxable account you hold.

    Calculate and download your report

    1. Open the FiscalFox calculator and choose Interactive Investor.
    2. Upload the transaction history CSV and check the imported purchases and sales.
    3. Select the UK tax year and resolve any missing purchase history or held items.
    4. Open Reports to generate the SA108 supporting schedule and detailed disposal workings.

    Frequently asked questions

Does FiscalFox support Interactive Investor (ii)?

Yes. FiscalFox has a built-in import for the Interactive Investor transaction history CSV, with Date, Symbol, Sedol, Quantity, Price, Description, Debit, Credit and Running Balance columns. It also reads ii trade history exports. The file is read without AI.

How do I calculate capital gains tax on Interactive Investor shares?

Export the Trading Account transaction history in GBP from Portfolio, Transaction History, then upload it to FiscalFox. FiscalFox applies HMRC same-day, 30-day and Section 104 matching to every disposal and produces SA108 supporting figures.

Do I pay capital gains tax on my ii ISA or SIPP?

No. Gains made inside a Stocks and Shares ISA or a SIPP are not subject to UK capital gains tax. Only upload the Trading Account history.

How are US shares bought through ii converted to sterling?

The GBP ledger records the sterling cash that settled each deal. FiscalFox uses that amount as the cost or proceeds, so the conversion matches what ii actually charged or paid you.
