    Lightyear

Calculate UK capital gains from Lightyear by uploading detailed CSV or Excel trade history to FiscalFox. Include the purchases behind your sales and relevant history from other brokers. FiscalFox applies UK share matching and lets you preview the calculation before buying a report pack.

    How to download Lightyear statements

    1. Find the account statement: In the Lightyear mobile app, open your chosen taxable account, then Transactions and Statements. On the web, open your profile, Settings and Account.
    2. Include the purchase history: Start before the earliest purchase needed for your sales. Include original purchases from another broker if you transferred shares into Lightyear.
    3. Cover the matching window: For a completed UK tax year, include purchases through 5 May after the year ends to cover the 30-day window after a 5 April sale.
    4. Choose detailed trade data: If your account offers CSV, download the detailed Account statement. FiscalFox accepts CSV and Excel trade tables; its uploader does not accept PDF statements.
    5. Upload and calculate: Choose Lightyear in FiscalFox, upload your history and preview the calculation. Recognised GBP trade tables read locally; unfamiliar layouts can use the existing AI import flow.

Lightyear’s UK statement help currently describes PDF downloads. Its CSV export walkthrough for another market shows an Export CSV option. Check what your own account offers; the FiscalFox uploader accepts CSV, XLS and XLSX.

Which Lightyear file should I upload?

Use a table with one row per purchase or sale. The recognised Account CSV layout has Date, Reference, Ticker, ISIN, Type, Quantity, CCY, Price/share, Gross Amount, FX Rate, Fee, Net Amt. and Tax Amt. Keep all the columns and signed cash amounts unchanged.

FiscalFox also reads prepared GBP trade tables with Security / ISIN, Transaction Type, Quantity, Share Price, Total Trade Value, Trade Date/Time, Settlement Date and Broker columns. A prepared table is a separate format from an original Lightyear Account export. Each row must supply a clear buy or sell and explicit sterling amounts.

A portfolio snapshot establishes what was held on a date, but it does not supply every purchase cost. A profit summary similarly cannot replace the dated acquisitions needed for share matching. Our broker records guide explains which history to combine.

How prices and fees are checked

For recognised GBP Account trade rows, FiscalFox checks quantity multiplied by price against the printed amounts and explicit fee. The acquisition cost or gross disposal proceeds and dealing charge remain separate. This avoids counting a charge twice when an export’s amount labels differ from a conventional settlement table.

As an illustration, ten shares at £10 with a £1 dealing fee establish £100 of purchase consideration and £1 of fees. Selling four shares at £12 with a £1 fee establishes £48 of gross proceeds and £1 of disposal fees. These example figures are not a customer’s records.

An unfamiliar layout, another currency or additional account activity follows the AI import flow. The resulting rows are validated and shown for review. Foreign acquisition costs and proceeds need sterling conversion at their respective dates, as explained in HMRC’s foreign-currency guidance and our exchange-rate guide.

Lightyear profit and UK share matching

UK taxable share gains depend on which acquisitions are matched to a disposal. Shares bought on the same day come first, then purchases in the following 30 days, and remaining shares generally come from the Section 104 pool. See HMRC’s share-identification rules.

Lightyear offers FIFO and average-cost capital gains statements and describes them as reference documents rather than formal tax calculations. Those methods alone do not reproduce the UK matching sequence. Combine relevant taxable-account history in FiscalFox, including purchases of the same investment at other brokers, to calculate the matching across accounts.

    Income and transferred shares

The local trade reader imports purchases and sales. A mixed statement containing dividends, interest or other activity uses the AI flow so those rows are not silently discarded. A trade-only file does not establish complete income figures. For overseas funds, excess reportable income may need separate evidence.

Transferred holdings retain their original acquisition history. Splits and share conversions also need their actual corporate-action treatment; opposing rows with different quantities must not become invented taxable purchases and sales. Keep the original statements alongside your calculation.

    Frequently asked questions

    Does FiscalFox support Lightyear imports?

Yes. Choose Lightyear and upload detailed CSV or Excel trade history. Recognised GBP Account trade rows and prepared GBP trade tables read locally. Unfamiliar layouts and other activity can use the existing AI import flow, with validation and a preview.

Where can I download a Lightyear CSV?

Look for Account statement in your account’s statement or report menu. Lightyear documents CSV export in some markets, but its current UK help describes PDF downloads. Use CSV if available in your account, or a detailed Excel trade table. PDF is not accepted by this uploader.

Which Lightyear fields does the calculation need?

Individual purchase and sale dates, security identifiers, quantities, prices, currencies, trade amounts and charges. A holdings snapshot or realised-profit summary does not establish the complete purchase history.

Can I combine Lightyear trades with another broker?

Yes. Upload the relevant history together. FiscalFox matches the same investment across taxable accounts and applies same-day matching, the following 30-day rule and Section 104 pooling.
